Kirk Pickell presented Officer James Fitzgerald of the Narragansett Police Department with the very first 100 Club Special Merit Award for Community Service for using his own money to purchase a new bike for Narragansett Elementary School student Madison Cronin after her original bike had been reported stolen. According to Kirk, whose father is a founding member of the 100 Club of Rhode Island, the board of directors heard the news of officer Fitzgerald's act of kindness and decided that such an act warranted special recognition.
