On December 25, 1776 the Continental Army crossed the Delaware River and launched a surprise attack that became known at the battle of Trenton. Only the ablest, most experienced seamen were chosen to row the boats across the semi-frozen river. The best among them, men from General John Glover’s regiment from Marblehead, Massachusetts navigated the most precious cargo – General George Washington himself - across the treacherous waters.
