The inspired financial plan starts with a conversation. The financial or estate plan is the core of an inspired financial plan but what differentiates this plan over traditional financial plans is in the conversation that I have with my clients and in many cases, with their family members. During this discussion, that we call the discovery phase, we talk of family traditions and accomplishments, values and visions, and we even share family stories. We talk about what’s most important to my clients in their future and how they vision their own legacy.
When having open ended discussions such as this, you never know which direction the conversation will take you, our overall objective is to have a better understanding of what my client’s needs and wants are for themselves and their families going forward. Also, during the conversation we talk about their philanthropic goals. Most people have been touched by one or more things in their lives that they wish they could change, cure, or have a positive effect on.
With an inspired financial plan we will not only have a better understand of my clients visions, but we will also have a complete picture of their financial condition. When completed, we will be able to map out a financial plan going forward that not only takes care of my clients and their family’s financial goals, but also includes having a legacy plan in place.
