Our Team

My practice focuses on aligning my clients' resources with their values. Throughout the relationship, I listen to my clients' concerns. I am interested in their dreams and conversely, what keeps them up at night. I believe it is important to tell my clients what I think rather than what they want to hear.

I guide my clients to critically assess where they are now relative to where they want to be. These discussions help me to generate recommendations on the right balance and mix in the design of the portfolio within their risk tolerance to meet their financial goals.

Janney's staff possess a high degree of professionalism and are aligned to the firm's client-centric platform. My previous firms were instrumental in carving a career path that I have enjoyed for over 30 years. I regularly author a financial advice column for a local magazine and have been interviewed many times for print, radio and television over the course of 15 years.

A graduate of the University of South Carolina, I hold a Master of Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance and Management and a Bachelor of Arts with a major in International Studies and a minor in Business Management. I hold Series 7 and 66 securities licenses as well as Life, Health and Long-term Care Producer's licenses. Over the span of my career, I have received many awards for client service excellence.

I have been involved in the local community for many years. Currently, I have the privilege of being a Board Member for the Economic Development Partnership. Additionally, I serve as Chair of the Aiken County Human Relations Council. I served on the Aiken County Council from 2003 - 2014; and a two-time past President of the Aiken Kiwanis Club; past Chair of the American Red Cross (local and state level), having received the Clara Barton Award in both roles and served on the Resolutions Committee of the Board of Governors. In addition, I co-founded a charity golf tournament, raising money for local organizations such as Helping Hands (of which I am a former Board member) and Tri-Development.

My wife, Mary Ruth, and I have two sons, Brad and Andrew, both active in sports. I had the pleasure to coach Brad in the Dixie Youth World Series. We are also very active in our church and school (St. Mary Help of Christians). I also enjoy playing golf.

About Haley

A second career for me, I joined Janney in July of 2023 after exiting a small investment advisory and tax planning firm. During my time at my previous firm, one of my responsibilities was reviewing clients’ tax returns against their consolidated statements; the only times I did not ponder what area advisors were doing to their clients was when looking at a Janney statement! While at my previous firm, I achieved my Series 65 license, as well as my Life, Health, and Accident Producer’s license. In a bold move, I updated my resume, gathered my licenses and the financial articles I had written, and marched into Janney Montgomery Scott with my portfolio seeking a hard-working, compassionate team to join. After achieving my Series 7 and Series 63 licenses, Scott and I officially teamed January 1, 2024. I also completed my Variable Life and Variable Annuity lines of authority.

Previously, I was in the media industry with positions at local newspaper Aiken Standard and WFXG Fox 54, and enjoyed helping small business owners grow their businesses. During my time at WFXG Fox 54, I received the Raycom STAR of the Week award for work in relation to the WORC (Workforce Opportunities in Regional Careers) program grant with academic partners, with network recognition. I graduated from the University of South Carolina Aiken in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Business Administration, cum laude, as Double Knot Society member and member of the Dance Team.

Along with my two children, Graham and Teagan, I enjoy participating in the community through local sports, attending and serving as an Elder at South Aiken Presbyterian Church, and volunteering for various non-profit organizations.
