Our Team
As both a Financial Advisor and the Branch Manager, I oversee the day to day activities of Janney's Scranton office. I was recognized as one of the 2009 Top 100 Branch Managers. This recognition, as appeared in the industry publication “On Wall Street”, showcases top branch managers nationwide for achievements in business development and recruiting, dedication to providing and facilitating superior client service, and for commitment to excellence as a leader to the Financial Consultants and Associates in their respective offices.
Drawn to Janney’s family atmosphere and client-centered business model, I joined the firm in 1991. With Janney, I am afforded the freedom to explore my clients’ current needs and make recommendations based on their goals.
The range of my professional services includes financial, retirement, insurance and education planning, mutual funds and equities, tax-free and taxable bonds as well as annuities. From the very first meeting, I make it perfectly clear that I use a ‘client comes first’ approach. Each client is unique. Regular communication with my clients helps to identify any changes or adjustments which need to be made.
I hold the prestigious Accredited Wealth Management Advisor℠ designation from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in conjunction with Janney’s internal education division, Janney University. In addition, I also hold FINRA Series 7, 8, 31, 63 and 65 securities licenses as well as Life, Health and Annuities licenses in Pennsylvania. My previous experience was with Reuben H. Donnelly where I advised clients on yellow page advertising needs.
A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, I hold a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. My community involvement includes serving on the Finance Council of Divine Mercy Parish. I am an avid skier and also enjoy golf, traveling, sports car racing, and spending Saturdays during college football season cheering on the Penn State Nittany Lions. My wife, Doreen, and I have two daughters, Lexi and Gabby.
Cathy assists Rick Kearney with day to day operations of the branches.

Her practice focuses on financial and retirement planning. Sue also maintains a focus on fixed income securities and works with institutional investors and bank clients using Janney's extensive Capital Market resources.
Since joining Janney in 2015, I have developed a practice that offers comprehensive, objective financial advice to help provide clients with the financial peace of mind that their most important financial goals will be attained. By staying on the leading edge of wealth management investments, services, and strategies, I am able to recommend the best solution to my clients.
The first step of my process is to provide a customized financial plan that helps clients set their financial objectives and establishes key action steps designed to help them move toward their financial goals. The financial plan also serves as a roadmap that I revisit and update throughout our relationship. The next step involves designing a customized investment plan recommendation that reflects the client’s goals and risk tolerance.
A graduate of Penn State University, I hold an Associate of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business with a focus on marketing and management. I also hold and maintain both FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 securities licenses, as well as a Pennsylvania Accident, Health, Life, Fixed and Variable licenses.
Dedicated to continuing education, I have earned a Certification in Long-Term Care (CLTC) that provides the critical tools necessary to discuss the subject of longevity and its acute consequences on a client’s family; financially, physically, emotionally, and the best practices to protect families from potential devastation of long-term care by offering advice that leads to a plan to mitigate those consequences.
Active in my community, I serve on the board of directors for the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library which has been serving the Mountain Top community since 1985.
As a Mountain Top resident, I enjoy family time with my wife and two kids.
