Shannon joined Janney in 2009 and has over 32 years of experience in the financial services industry. A graduate of The University of Maryland at College Park, she holds her Finra Series 7,63 and 65 Licenses
She takes pride in her asset research, portfolio review, and implementation process. She offers clients a comprehensive approach to retirement planning, insurance, annuities, and long-term care planning. Utilizing a long-term strategy, while maintaining the flexibility to respond to various short-term fluctuations, Shannon navigates market cycles with the experience and innovation that helps her clients reach their financial goals.
Shannon is actively involved with Special Olympics DC. She resides in Washington, DC with her husband Pete.
John McCarthy is a critical part of the team’s daily process providing highly personalized client service. He is responsible for day-to-day operations and administration of client accounts. John graduated from Seton Hall University with a double major in Finance and Technology and a minor in Wealth Management. He holds his Series 7 and 66 securities licenses.
Outside of the office, John enjoys passing the time on the golf course and rooting for the Pirates.

Dan Wantrobski is Director of Research at Janney Montgomery Scott and has over 20 years of industry experience as a technical analyst and strategist.
Mr. Wantrobski spent the first 10 years of his career at Paine Webber and UBS, where he developed his knowledge as a technician and macro strategist following the equity, fixed income, commodity, and currency markets. He has also spent time at Fox Pitt Kelton, Bedford Quantitative, and New Albion Partners. From 2008 to 2016, Mr. Wantrobski served as Janney’s technical strategist.
Mr. Wantrobski regularly comments in the media on key issues arising in the industry, with appearances in outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, Reuters, The Philadelphia Inquirer, CNBC, Fox Business, and Bloomberg TV. He is also a frequent speaker at financial industry conferences, including the Ernst & Young Annual Firm Conference where he has served as a guest speaker for the last five years.
Mr. Wantrobski is a Chartered Market Technician ® (CMT) and attended Villanova University, graduating cum laude with a B.S. in Finance.
He currently resides in Moorestown, NJ where he volunteers as a firefighter with Relief Engine Co. 312.
Kathleen is a Vice President and Senior Financial Planner in Janney’s Wealth Planning Department. She supports Janney’s Western regional offices and is based out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Kathleen provides comprehensive solutions designed to effectively address complex issues to help high net worth clients, business owners, corporate executives, and others meet their goals and objectives. She assists Janney’s Financial Advisors by providing subject matter expertise to analyze a wide variety of issues including estate, trust, and wealth transfer planning, asset protection, retirement, income tax, and charitable planning strategies.
Professional Experience
Kathleen has extensive experience in estate, fiduciary, and individual income tax planning for high net worth clients. Prior to joining Janney, she spent over 20 years serving as a senior wealth planning strategist at large national wealth management institutions including The Bank of New York Mellon and PNC Private Bank. Kathleen began her financial counselling career with The Ayco Company LP (now part of Goldman Sachs). She received her Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation and served as fiduciary research specialist for Fi360 where she developed fiduciary educational programs for AIF® designees, CFPs, and other financial advisors.
Personal Background
Kathleen received her Juris Doctor from Duquesne University’s School of Law and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration also from Duquesne University. She is certified as an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®). Kathleen has been a frequent speaker at seminars on various financial and estate planning topics. She published several articles for Kiplinger’s Wealth Creation column and has been quoted in Barron’s, Think Advisor, and other industry publications. Kathleen is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Pittsburgh and the Allegheny County Bar Association.
