401(k) limit increases to $23,000 for 2024, IRA limit rises to $7,000 | Internal Revenue Service
On November 1st, the IRS announced the cost-of-living adjustments impacting 2024 contribution limits for various retirement-related accounts.
Participants in 401(k), 403(b), and most 457 plans as well as the federal government's Thirft Savings Plan can now contribute $23,000, up from $22,500.
The limit on IRA contributions also increased to $7000, up from $6500, for 2024. The "catch up" contribution for individuals aged 50 and over remains unchanged at $1000.
