Drawn from the renowned collection of the Brooklyn Museum, French Moderns features approximately 60 works spanning the mid-nineteenth to mid-twentieth centuries—a period that established France as the global center of artistic innovation. The exhibition showcases a wide range of styles, including realism, impressionism, post-impressionism, symbolism, Fauvism, cubism, and surrealism.
Visitors will experience works by some of the most influential artists of the era, including Paul Cézanne, Marc Chagall, Camille Corot, Gustave Courbet, Edgar Degas, Henri Matisse, Berthe Morisot, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Auguste Rodin. Organized around four central themes—portraiture, the nude figure, still life, and landscape—the exhibition offers a compelling exploration of representation and abstraction that continues to inspire audiences today.
