The Cars - You Might Think (Official Music Video)
#FridayTunes "You Might Think" by the Cars won the first-ever Video of the Year award at MTV's Video Music Awards in 1984. The video was considered very advanced for the time and was one of the first to use computerized effects. Oh well uh, you might think I'm crazy To hang around with you Or maybe you think I'm lucky To have somethin' to do But I think that you're wild Inside me is some child You might think I'm foolish Or maybe it's untrue (You might think) You might think I'm crazy (All I want) All I want is you You might think it's hysterical But I know when you're weak You think you're in the movies And everything's so deep But I think that you're wild When you flash that fragile smile You might think it's foolish What you put me through (You might think) You might think I'm crazy (All I want) All I want is you And it was hard, so hard to take (So hard to take) There's no escape (There's no escape) Without a scrape (Without a scrape) But you kept it going, till the sun fell down You kept it, going Oh well uh, you might think I'm delirious The way I run you down But somewhere, sometimes When you're curious I'll be back around Oh, I think that you're wild And so uniquely styled You might think it's foolish This chancy rendezvous (You might think I'm crazy) You might think I'm crazy (All I want is you) All I want is you, ah-oo All I want is you (All I want is you) All I want is you Artist: The Cars Songwriter: Ric Ocasek Released: February 1984 Album Heartbeat City

(1983) David Bowie / Young Americans
“Young Americans” by David Bowie, has had a lasting impact on pop culture and music. The song’s timeless message of hope, defiance, and diversity in a time of political and social upheaval continues to be relevant in today's society almost 50 years later. YOUNG AMERICANS They pulled in just behind the bridge He lays her down, he frowns "Gee, my life's a funny thing Am I still too young?" He kissed her then and there She took his ring, took his babies It took him minutes, took her nowhere Heaven knows, she'd have taken anything, but (All night) She wants the young American (Young American, young American) (She wants the young American) (All right) She wants the young American Scanning life through the picture window She finds the slinky vagabond He coughs as he passes her Ford Mustang But Heaven forbid, she'll take anything But the freak, and his type, all for nothing He misses a step and cuts his hand, but Showing nothing, he swoops like a song She cries, "Where have all Papa's heroes gone?" (All night) She wants the young American (Young American, young American) (She wants the young American) (All right) But she wants the young American All the way from Washington Her bread-winner begs off the bathroom floor "We live for just these twenty years Do we have to die for the fifty more?" All night He wants the young American (Young American, young American) (He wants the young American) (All right) All right He wants the young American Do you remember, your President Nixon? Do you remember, the bills you have to pay? Or even yesterday? Have you been the un-American? Just you and your idol sing falsetto 'Bout Leather, leather everywhere And not a myth left from the ghetto Well, well, well, would you carry a razor In case, just in case of depression? Sit on your hands on a bus of survivors Blushing at all the Afro-Sheeners Ain't that close to love? Well, ain't that poster love? Well, it ain't that Barbie doll Her heart's been broken just like you and (All night) All night, you want the young American (Young American) young American (You want the young American) All right All right You want the young American You ain't a pimp and you ain't a hustler A pimp's got a Cadi and a lady got a Chrysler Black's got respect, and white's got his soul train Mama's got cramps, and look at your hands ache (I heard the news today, oh boy) I got a suite and you got defeat Ain't there a man who can say no more? And ain't there a woman I can sock on the jaw? And, ain't there a child I can hold without judging? Ain't there a pen that will write before they die? Ain't you proud that you've still got faces? Ain't there one damn song that can make me break down and cry? All night I want the young American (Young American) young American (I want the young American) All right I want the young American, young American (Young American, young American) (I want the young American) (All night) You want I, I want you (Young American, young American) (I want the young American) (All right) All I want is the young American (Young American, young American) (I want the young American) (All night) Artist: David Bowie Songwriter: David Bowie Released: February 21, 1975 Album: Young Americans

Van Morrison Autumn Song
#FridayTunes A long one, but a beautiful song by Van Morrison. AUTUMN SONG Leaves of brown they fall to the ground And it's here, over there leaves around Shut the door, dim the lights and relax What is more, your desire or the facts Pitter patter the rain falling down Little glamor sun coming round Take a walk when autumn comes to town Little stroll past the house on the hill Some more coal on the fire will do well And in a week or two it'll be Halloween Set the page and the stage for the scene A little game the children will play And as we watch them while time away Look at me and take my breath away, yeah You'll be smiling- eyes beguilding And the song on the breeze Will call my name out and your dream Chestnuts roasting outside as you walk With your love by your side The old accordion man plays mellow and bright And you go home in the crispness of the night Little later friends will be along And if you feel like joining the throng Just might feel like singing Autumn song Just may feel like singing Autumn song You'll be smiling Eyes beguilding And the song on the breeze Calls my name out in your dream Chestnuts roasting outside As you walk with your love by your side And the old accordion plays mellow and bright And you go home in the crispness of the night Little later friends will be along And if you feel like joining the throng Just might feel like singing Autumn song Autumn song Artist: Van Morrison Songwriter: Van Morrison Released: 1973 Album: Hard Nose the Highway

Kris Kristofferson - Me And Bobby McGee (1979)
#FridayTunes Kris Kristofferson was an American country music singer, songwriter and actor. He passed away on September 28, 2024. In tribute to him, here is a performance of “Me and Bobby McGee" which he wrote in 1969. The song would become a number 1 hit with Janice Joplin's release in 1971. Busted flat in Baton Rouge, headin' for the train Feelin' nearly faded as my jeans Bobby thumbed a diesel down just before it rained Took us all away to New Orleans I took my harpoon out of my dirty red bandanna And was blowin' sad while bobby sang the blues With those windshield wipers slappin' time And Bobby clappin' hands we finally sung up every song that driver knew Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose Nothin' ain't worth nothin', but it's free Feelin' good was easy Lord, when Bobby sang the blues Feelin' good was good enough for me Good enough for me and Bobby McGee From the coalmines of Kentucky to the California sun Bobby shared the secrets of my soul Standin' right beside me Lord through every thing I done Every night she kept me from the cold Then somewhere near Salinas lord, I let her slip away Lookin' for the home, I hope she'll find And I've trade all my tomorrows for a single yesterday Holdin' Bobby's body next to mine Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose Nothin' ain't worth nothin', but it's free Feelin' good was easy Lord, when Bobby sang the blues Feelin' good was good enough for me Good enough for me and Bobby McGee Me and Bobby McGee Me and Bobby McGee
