Our Team

After leaving active duty in the United States Navy in 1990, Jim transitioned into the wealth management industry. He started his career as a Financial Advisor in Chicago, working for Merill Lynch, before being selected for field management duties. Jim has managed and led wealth management offices nationwide, working in many different capacities ranging from branch manager in Spartanburg, SC to the Director of Business Development for the Central-West Division of Smith Barney. In 2015, Jim’s performance and career were recognized when he was listed as one of the top 10 branch managers in the industry, by the publication On Wall Street.
This expansive experience gave Jim a comprehensive understanding of how top Financial Advisors and firms care for their clients, manage their assets, and deliver in-depth financial planning. Armed with this advanced knowledge and experience, Jim decided to focus his full attention in the area he found most rewarding: working directly with clients and their families.
In 2020, Jim reconnected with Kenny Wiland. During their discussion, the opportunity presented itself for Jim to join Ken, making for the perfect opening to achieve both his personal and professional goals. Furthermore, Jim and Kenny share a very similar history, with both having worked for Robinson-Humphrey/Smith Barney for most of their careers. So, after ten years of managing the Janney Pittsburgh Branch Complex, Jim elected to join Kenny, and assume the role of team leader when Kenny stepped into retirement in 2022.
In 2023, Jim expanded the team when he welcomed his youngest son, Jimmy, as a Financial Advisor after eight years on active duty as a Marine Corps Officer.
Jim lives in Aiken, just off of Silver Bluff road with his wife of nearly 40 years, Cynthia. Three of their four children and all six grandchildren live nearby, all residing in the Midlands area of South Carolina. An active member of St. Mary Help of Christians, Jim serves on the Parish Finance Committee and School Advisory Board, as well as a member of the Diocese of Charleston Investment Committee. He also maintains his passion for helping veterans, serving as the Chairman of Our Community Salutes Midlands SC Chapter and as a Member of the United States Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) and Carolina Recruiting District Assistance Council. When he isn’t working, Jim enjoys playing golf, taking trips to the coast, and spending quality time with his family.
Jim is a Certified Financial Planner™ and holds the title of Accredited Investment Fiduciary.

Jimmy brings a unique blend of military leadership experience and financial expertise to the Wiland-Foley Advisory Group. His journey to financial services was inspired by his experiences during his career as a Marine Corps officer. His approach to wealth management mirrors the principles that guided his military service: genuine concern for others' well-being, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the success of those around him. Jimmy understands that one’s time and money are some of life's most precious resources, and he dedicates himself in his role as an advisor to helping his clients optimize and protect both.
During his time in the Marine Corps, Jimmy served in various leadership roles and positions of significant responsibility, including Platoon Commander and Aide De Camp to the Commanding General of Marine Forces Cyberspace and Space Command.
Jimmy holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri and is currently advancing his expertise through Columbia University's prestigious Master of Professional Studies in Wealth Management program. His decision to join Janney was driven by the firm's client-centric culture and robust resources, along with the opportunity to work alongside his father, an established advisor who shared Jimmy’s values and commitment to client success.
Beyond his professional practice, Jimmy maintains strong ties to the military community. He serves as the Vice President of Legislative Affairs for South Carolina's Military Officers Association of America chapter and continues to serve in the Marine Corps Reserve as a Marine For Life Representative in Beaufort, SC. He is also an active member of the Aiken Rotary Club, where he contributes to both the Sergeant at Arms and Scholarship committees, as well as volunteering at the SPCA Albrecht Center in Aiken.
Jimmy resides with his wife Jillian, whom he married in 2018, their son Michael, and their two rescue dogs, Colby and Bleu. When not serving his clients, he enjoys outdoor activities, landscaping, gardening, hunting, and spending quality time with his family.
