Jim Foley, CFP®, AIF®
Senior Vice President / Wealth Management
About Jim

After leaving active duty in the United States Navy in 1990, Jim transitioned into the wealth management industry. He started his career as a Financial Advisor in Chicago, working for Merill Lynch, before being selected for field management duties. Jim has managed and led wealth management offices nationwide, working in many different capacities ranging from branch manager in Spartanburg, SC to the Director of Business Development for the Central-West Division of Smith Barney. In 2015, Jim’s performance and career were recognized when he was listed as one of the top 10 branch managers in the industry, by the publication On Wall Street.

This expansive experience gave Jim a comprehensive understanding of how top Financial Advisors and firms care for their clients, manage their assets, and deliver in-depth financial planning. Armed with this advanced knowledge and experience, Jim decided to focus his full attention in the area he found most rewarding: working directly with clients and their families.

In 2020, Jim reconnected with Kenny Wiland. During their discussion, the opportunity presented itself for Jim to join Ken, making for the perfect opening to achieve both his personal and professional goals. Furthermore, Jim and Kenny share a very similar history, with both having worked for Robinson-Humphrey/Smith Barney for most of their careers. So, after ten years of managing the Janney Pittsburgh Branch Complex, Jim elected to join Kenny, and assume the role of team leader when Kenny stepped into retirement in 2022.

In 2023, Jim expanded the team when he welcomed his youngest son, Jimmy, as a Financial Advisor after eight years on active duty as a Marine Corps Officer.

Jim lives in Aiken, just off of Silver Bluff road with his wife of nearly 40 years, Cynthia. Three of their four children and all six grandchildren live nearby, all residing in the Midlands area of South Carolina. An active member of St. Mary Help of Christians, Jim serves on the Parish Finance Committee and School Advisory Board, as well as a member of the Diocese of Charleston Investment Committee. He also maintains his passion for helping veterans, serving as the Chairman of Our Community Salutes Midlands SC Chapter and as a Member of the United States Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) and Carolina Recruiting District Assistance Council. When he isn’t working, Jim enjoys playing golf, taking trips to the coast, and spending quality time with his family.

Jim is a Certified Financial Planner™ and holds the title of Accredited Investment Fiduciary.

Financial Advisor / Wealth Management
About Jimmy

After over seven years of active-duty service in the Marine Corps, Jimmy made the decision to follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue a career in the financial services industry. Driven by a desire to work closely with individuals and families, Jimmy found that a career as a financial advisor was a natural fit. Being a financial advisor also presented a unique opportunity

for Jimmy to replicate the most satisfying aspects of his career as a Marine Corps officer; working directly with people, understanding their goals, and making plans to reach those goals.

What drew Jimmy to Janney is its culture that prioritizes the needs of its clients. This enables Jimmy to create solutions that are unique and tailored to each client’s individual needs. Furthermore, these values align with Jimmy’s unwavering commitment to client success and dedication to putting client’s interests first.

Born outside of Chicago and having lived in various locations throughout the United States, Jimmy always called home the place he lived the longest as a child - South Carolina. When his father joined Kenny Wiland in Aiken, Jimmy seized the opportunity to return to the state that he loved. After starting with Janney in the Columbia SC office, Jimmy formally joined the Wiland-Foley Advisory Group in July 2023.

Jimmy has a particular interest in serving those, like him, who have served, especially veterans and families of veterans. Working with his father, a Navy veteran, is a natural fit for both of their service experiences. Combining an emphasis on financial planning and long-term, “buy and hold” investing, the strategies adopted and proven long ago by the Wiland-Foley Advisory Group, Jimmy is already impacting our clients’ futures. With a brother with special needs, Jimmy also has a particular devotion to those facing the challenges of physical challenges and prolonged illness.

Jimmy holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri and attended Marine Corps Officer Candidate School immediately following graduation. Throughout his military career, he held various roles and served in many different capacities, ranging from Platoon Commander to Aide De Camp to the Commanding General, Marine Forces Cyberspace and Space Command.

Jimmy met Jillian, his future wife, shortly before commissioning in the Marine Corps. They both married in 2018, and are now proud parents to their son, Michael, and two rescue dogs, Colby and Bleu. Jimmy is greatly involved in the veteran community throughout South Carolina. His participation extends to the Marine Corps League and holding the position of Vice President of Legislative Affairs for both the South Carolina State Council of Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) and the South Carolina Veterans Coalition. Jimmy is also a proud member of the Aiken Downtown Rotary Club, where he serves on the Sergeant At Arms Committee. Outside of his professional life, Jimmy likes spending time outdoors, hunting, and enjoying quality time with his family.
